Want to grab some new makeup but can’t afford it? Don’t worry, I got you covered.

Obviously, I know what it’s like to be a broke b**** – like, I love makeup, duh. I’ve even maxed out my AfterPay account and was banned from using it because I spent so much money on it, buying makeup. It’s an addiction, and I totally understand what you’re going through with wanting to splurge on some new purchases. So, for all of you who don’t have a lot of money to spend on makeup but really need something new to add to your collection (I mean, replace from your collection, you know, because you used it all)… then this is for you.

Here are some of my favourite products that I find amazing, but don’t hurt your bank account too much.

Sephora Collection, Teint Infusion Ethereal Natural Finish Foundation – $23.00

I really like this foundation, and for the price, it works pretty well. It’s lightweight and you can build up the coverage, which makes it a perfect all rounder from winter to summer. I found it to be somewhat hydrating, which is always a plus when it comes to foundation, because we don’t want to end up with gross, cakey looking foundation slathered on our faces. The only downside is that the shade range isn’t that great, and because I have fairly light skin, I had to get some lightening drops to add into it.

Crush Cosmetics, 35O Eyeshadow Palette – $31.00

Now, if you’re a sucker for neutral coloured eyeshadow, like I am… Then this is perfect for you. Not only is this brand a perfect dupe for Morphe eyeshadows, but the quality is just as good as Morphe. The colours are extremely blendable and buildable, they’re super nice to work with and it doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg.

E.L.F, Highlighting Pearl Paint – $12.00

Oh my goodness. I remember when I first got this product on sale for a banging $1.00 – it was a dream and I didn’t want to wake up. This highlight is so unreal, I literally used it over my whole body and even forced my partner to let me put it on his face. It’s glowy, super buildable, easy to apply and it smells good. It’s also really cheap. One of my favourites, hands down. It comes in two shades at Kmart, Moonbeam and Pink Lady.

Maybelline, Lash Sensational Mascara – $21.95

Thankfully, this mascara is almost always on sale. Wether you get it from Kmart, Safeway, Coles or Chemist Warehouse… You’ll most likely always get it for less than the retail price. This is my go-to mascara, it’s cheap, it doesn’t clump and it’s just really bloody great.

BH Cosmetics, 11 Piece Luxe Brush Set – $49.95

So, these aren’t going to really break your bank, but it definitely is an amazing investment if you’re looking for some super reliable makeup brushes. These were the first proper brushes I ever bought and that was about four years ago now. They’re still perfect and I prefer to use them over my Sigma brushes. Weird, right? They’re literally that amazing. The bullet brush used for your eyeshadow is quite literally my holy grail. I kid you not.

Designer Brands, Stick Foundation – $14.99

Now if you’re really looking for foundation on a budget that isn’t horrible quality, then this is a pretty rad find. The stick foundation is a bit thicker than liquid foundation but I find that it’s perfect for those who like to really build up their coverage. Put a flame to the foundation for a couple of seconds and then apply to your face, and bam, your foundation will glide right on and you can blend it until the cows come home. Again, the only downfall is the lack of shade range.

Australis, GRLBOSS Demi Matte Lip Cream – $14.95

If you’re looking for a great liquid lip that isn’t a million dollars, then this is a great product for you. These lipsticks are easy to apply, they’re demi-matte so they aren’t super drying on your lips and they have an amazing shade range. Some of these are my go-to colours and if these were discontinued, I would probably struggle to find an equally as great product to replace it.

W7, Prime Magic Primer – $2.50

Okay, I know what you’re thinking… $2.50?! Is this girl insane? It has to be a crap product! WRONG! This is one of my absolute favourite primers, and I have so many high end brand primers, and I still choose this one nine times out of ten. Why? Because it’s bloody amazing. It’s so silky to apply and it primes your skin so perfectly. Every single time I use it, my skin is super hydrated and my makeup applies flawlessly. You cannot go wrong with this primer.

Of course, there are so many products I could write down on this list, but these are pretty much the essentials and reasonably priced, so if you’re ever in need of a new foundation or lipstick, be sure to check a couple of these items out.

What are your affordable makeup favourites and why? I would love to know!

  • Being a bigger gal, I found it really daunting to self tan in fear that it would highlight all of my cellulite and skin blemishes... I had a fear that it would make my skin look terrible and I would look bigger than I actually was 🥺

I went from being paranoid and never self tanning, to being in love with a self tanning brand called @tantootie - their formula is absolutely incredible. Because it comes in one shade, and how the formula is made... YOU get to decide how dark you want to be, and the best part is, it suits all skin tones.

I am incredibly pale, and when I say that, I mean it. My skin reflects off of the sun and blinds you 😂 But this tan actually compliments my skin and all I do is leave it on an hour, wash it off, and it looks like I have a nice sun kissed glow 😍

Thank you #tantootie for being an amazing Australian brand!
  • The face I make when I see hot cross buns available in shops... 😍

Let’s remind ourselves that just because it’s a new year, doesn’t mean it has to be a “new you”. Changing your physical appearance will not mend your mental scars and being thin will not make you happy. So go and eat all the hot cross buns you want and live fearlessly ❤️ Swimmers: @kmartaus

  • The truth is, the concept of the perfect body is bogus. No body is perfect. The media and the majority of society has been pushing the concept of a perfect body and ingraining it into our minds from a young age.

I’m going to straight up tell you, that it’s bullsh*t. The body you have right now, the one that’s done so much for you... it’s wonderful the way it is.

Your weight, your appearance do not make you who you are. It also doesn’t change the fact that you are a human being and you deserve respect, regardless of what you look like 👏🏻 I’m urging you to challenge your inner thinking’s and let yourself be YOU. Unapologetically you. Don’t let society tell you that you aren’t good enough because you aren’t a tiny size or you don’t have certain coloured hair or eyes.

Show up as yourself and be free. I believe in you ❤️ Bathers: @kmartaus
  • Don’t forget to take some time for yourself after this xmas period. It’s such a taxing time... physically and mentally.

It’s important to look after yourself. Go do something for you!

  • Women need to stick together. Lift each other up. Be supportive of all other women.

When did it become popular to pick on other women and tear them down? I’m not sure, but it needs to end.

How are we meant to push past negative ideals surrounding women if we don’t stick together?

Grab your ladies and be kind to one another. The world will be a better place ✌🏻
  • We shouldn’t need to or have to minimise ourselves to fit into a society that struggles to accept people as human beings.

Don’t let yourself be viewed as tiny. Stand up tall and be proud of yourself. You can do it ❤️
